Youth
You are never too young to start playing tennis.
Public courts provide an opportunity for families to play together and the courts are often used by young and old alike. Beginner and child racquets may be bought fairly inexpensively at discount stores. For new and younger players, look for training balls which bounce slower and will help develop the basic skill of hitting the ball.
Many youth started playing on the Chapel Hill public courts and have gone on to play for middle and high school teams. All Chapel Hill middle school teams and ECHHS JV teams use public tennis courts for practices or matches. Chapel Hill High School tennis teams have gone on to win 18 or more North Carolina state team championships. Tennis is alive in Chapel Hill! Support our student tennis athletes and become one!
